Banglahant Desk: The President presents a bicycle to a needy cyclist student on their auspicious day. Riaz, a young ninth-grade student in the capital Delhi, received a racing bicycle from President Ram Nath Kobind as a gift. Riaz's dream of becoming a world-class cyclist since his childhood, this initiative of the President is to fulfill that dream.
Riaz is a student of Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in Anand Bihar, Delhi and a resident of Madhubani district in Bihar. A statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan said Riaz's family lives in Madhubani and lives in a rented house in Maharajpur, Ghaziabad. It is known that his father cooks a little in one place, so he has to study, cycle training as well as do the dishes in one place.
In 2017, Riaz won a bronze medal at the Delhi State Cycling Championships. He also took part in a school games in Guwahati and finished fourth nationally as a cyclist.
Riaz is regularly taking professional training from coach Promod Sharma at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi. Unfortunately, for so long he has had to rely on a borrowed bicycle for his practice. On the occasion of Eid, the wish of his own bicycle was finally fulfilled.
“President Ramnath Kobind decided to give a bicycle to Riaz, who dreamed of becoming a cyclist to inspire the country's emerging future generation,” the statement said.
