According to an all-India media source, IPL 2021 will have nine teams instead of eight. The new franchise team will come from the state of Gujarat and the home ground of that team will be the Motera Stadium in Gujarat.

It is learned that BCCI will call for tenders for the new team in the next few days. Sanjeev Goenka has already expressed interest in buying a new team. Southern actor Mohanlal is also in the running to buy a new team. The name of Adani group is also coming up in this race.

Earlier too, Sanjeev Goenka had bought the team in the IPL. Rising Pune Supergiant joined the IPL as a new team after the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were deported for spot-fixing.
