Banglahant Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Union Cabinet meeting has taken a big decision on Jammu and Kashmir. From now on, a three-tier panchayat system will be introduced in Jammu and Kashmir like in other states. Will be divided at village, block and district level.
According to the government, the move to agree to amend the Panchayati Raj Act 1979 will strengthen democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. The role of the government in protecting human rights will continue.
There was no such three-tier panchayat raj system before the repeal of Article 370 from Kashmir. The people there were demanding that a three-tier panchayat system be established there as in other states. That is why the Union Cabinet has agreed to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1979 and promulgate a three-tier Panchayati Raj system.
After the cabinet meeting on the same day, Union Minister Prakash Javarekar told the media that the three-tier panchayat raj system is going to be introduced in Jammu and Kashmir soon. From now on, the citizens here will also be able to elect the representatives of their choice.
According to government sources, the move will strengthen democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. Besides, the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir have got many opportunities since the repeal of Section 370. Gradually all the central laws are going to be enforced here. The citizens here have also agreed to this decision. As a result of this move, the long wait of the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir is coming to an end.
