BanglaHunt Desk: From now on, online news portals and all streaming platforms have come under the central government. The new rules have been announced by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in a guideline issued on November 9.
According to the new rules of the central government – the center will have control over Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Hotstar, digital news portals, various streaming platforms. An agency filed a petition in the Supreme Court last month to regulate OTT platforms. The court was awaiting the Centre's advice based on the agency's application.

Earlier, however, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had informed the apex court in a lawsuit about the rush to digital media. The central government felt that it was necessary to bring control over digital media before controlling TV or electronic media.

Announcing the new rules, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar's ministry said, “The new rules have already been issued to monitor the content of streaming platforms and digital news portals.” This OTT platform is new in India. So if anyone has any objections to the content of this new OTT platform, they can report it directly to the Center.
