This time another modern technology is going to be added to Indian Railways. India's fastest double-decker train is already ready, Railway Minister Piyush Goel said. Made at Kapurthala Rail Coat Factory, this medium speed double decker train will run on the busiest routes in the country.
The train still has the highest number of passengers on any Indian Railways coach. The train can seat 120 passengers per coach. Its speed is not less, the train will run at a speed of 160 km per hour. With state-of-the-art air spring suspension, passengers will not feel any jolt even when running at the final speed. At the same time there are LED screens, pantry cars and all the modern accessories.
Recently, Piyush Goel, the Railway Minister in the Modi government, said that Indian Railways will be a net zero railway by 2030. Carbon emissions of Indian Railways will be brought down to zero. The Railway Minister further said that Indian Railways, which carries 600 crore passengers and 1.2 billion tonnes of goods every year, will become 'green'.
The use of diesel engines should be stopped completely in the country to reduce carbon emissions. Instead, all trains will have to run on electricity. In 2014, Indian Railways emitted 640,000 tons of carbon. The Modi government wants to reduce this emissions to zero. The Railway Minister said that by 2023, Indian Railways will be fully electric dependent.
