Bangla Hunt Desk: Amid tensions between India and China over the de facto LoC in Ladakh, there was good news for the Indian Army and the country. The test of the powerful 155 mm sarang gun, which has been going on for several months in Jabbalpur, Madhya Pradesh, has been successful. The cannons produced at the LPR range in Jabbalpur have been tested for a long time.
In the next 3 years, 300 Sarang cannons will be handed over to the Indian Army. In the first phase, 6 cannon cannons have passed all the tests. Army officers have also seen the power of these indigenous cannons. Army officials said that the testing of these cannons in the LPR range was completely successful. It is to be noted that the army of the country had been waiting for a long time to add Sarang to their regiment. This cannon will increase the strength of the army several times. In the test, the cannon overcame all obstacles and succeeded in penetrating the intended target.
Earlier, the defense ministry had signed an agreement with two indigenous defense companies to buy Pinaka multi barrel rocket launchers for six army regiments at a cost of Rs 2,560 crore. Officials said the indigenous Pinaka missile would be deployed in a regiment of Indian troops deployed along the China-Pakistan border to enhance the military's operational capability.
The agreement has been signed by Tata Power Company Limited and Larsen & Toubro. The defense-oriented Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has also been made a part of the deal. BEML will provide the Indian Army with suitable vehicles to hold rocket launchers. The six Pinaka regiments will have 45 command posts and 114 launchers, as well as an automated gun imaging and positioning system (AGAPS), the defense ministry said in a statement. The statement said that the Pinaka Missile Regiment is planned to start operations by 2024.
It has also been said that 80 per cent of the indigenous content will be in the Haritiya system. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman have approved the project. The Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) has been developed by DRDO. The ministry said that this important project would make the country self-reliant and promote partnership between government and non-government organizations in the state-of-the-art technology sector.
