Banglahunt Desk: The demand for electricity is increasing at the moment. At the same time, the world's coal and oil reserves are declining. At the same time, pollution increases traditional power generation. To address these issues, the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), Durgapur, has built a new solar plant structure in its residential colony, which the authorities claim is the largest solar plant in the world.
A spokesman for the institute said each solar photovoltaic (PV) panel was designed to have maximum sunlight and minimal shade. "The capacity of this solar plant is above 11.5 kWp (kilowatt peak) on a daily basis and it can produce 12,000 to 14,000 units of green power per year," said Professor Harish Hirani, Director, CMERI. "We produce the most PV panels and electricity in the world," he said.
According to the institution, "The largest solar plant in the world so far was in Europe, generating about 8.6 kilowatts of energy, which is significantly less than this solar plant." It emits 10 to 12 tons less carbon dioxide than fossil fuels. ”
The price of each solar plant has been allocated Rs 7.5 lakh. Each solar plant has features like twenty-four hour CCTV surveillance, real-time humidity, wind speed, rainfall forecast recording.
