Bangla Hunt Desk: Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab met in the second match of IPL on Sunday. Speaking to commentator Simon Duel after the toss in that match, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer said, “I feel lucky to have received advice from two great cricketers like Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly.” And all the controversy has arisen around this comment of Shreyas Iyer.
Shreyas Iyer's remarks were not well received by the Indian Cricket Board and the IPL franchises. A number of board officials have claimed that Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer has raised the question of conflict of interest, citing Sourav Ganguly.
Last year, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was the mentor of Delhi Capitals. But this year he is in no way associated with Delhi Capitals. And Shreyas Iyer has mentioned the contribution of Sourav Ganguly this year. And this raises the question of conflict of interest.
Again, many people have supported Shreyas Iyer's statement and claimed that as a cricketer and captain, Shreyas Iyer can make such a comment. He can only acknowledge the contribution of Sourav Ganguly. There is no question of finding out the different meaning of this word in tabla. The BCCI has been asked to take responsibility for this so that there is no more water turbidity in this regard.
