A student was allegedly beaten after entering the JNU hostel on Wednesday. Student Vivek Pandey sustained injuries to his face, hands and waist.
Basanta Kunj North police have filed a case under the section of assault. Vivek Pandey complained to the police that he was at his hostel around 12.40 pm on Wednesday night. Just then, about 10 students from the right-wing student organization came out of his hostel room and shouted at him. When he was out, they started arguing with him.
According to Vivek, when the dispute escalated, the accused started beating him. Their beating hurt their conscience. Vivek also names some of the people who attacked him. However, he could not say their names because he did not know everyone. Conscience says the defendants were intoxicated.
Vivek also said that they were the ones who entered the hostel on January 5 and beat the students. It is to be noted that the two student organizations had lodged complaints against each other in the incident of violence that took place on the JNU campus in January. The leftist student organization also tried to march to the parliament building.
